Jess and Pete are some pretty rad people I am lucky enough to call close friends. I grew up one town over from them both but it wasn't until just 2 years ago that we connected personally. Jess makes beautiful ethically handmade linen clothing at We Sew Seeds and Pete is one of the owners of the family business, Freedom Farms. I have had the pleasure of spending time with their family on their farm, and I have to say, miss Gladys is one lucky lady being born into this family.

She is baby #3, and their second planned homebirth. I was so excited to finally have my first live birth experience with people I love so dearly, but little love had other plans and made her way earth side a lot quicker than her siblings before, so I did not make it in time. I hear labor started around 7pm and was filled with a small amount of nightly farm chores, making dinner, Dad and Brother filling the birthing pool, and mom just breathing her way through contractions. Once the kids were in bed mom lay in the pool with dad close by and in the blink of an eye she was holding her fresh little squish in her arms around 11pm.

How magical, and how badly I wished I was there!

So we decided it best I wait until the following morning, when the kids were awake. I was bursting with excitement, I could barely hold myself together on the drive to. I walked towards the house and was greeted by both dogs on the porch, through the doors and there she was, full head of luscious brown hair, wrinkly soft skin and perfect in every way! We started the session with a feed and diaper change to assure her comfort and then calmly let the family soak in the newest addition to their family, Grandma too! I love seeing the generations of women all in one place, mamas and their babies, YES PLEASE!

This family is so sweet and I am honored to be the one they choose to document all their intimate family memories.
